This cocktail was developed at the Detroit Athletic Club in the early 1900s.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce dry gin
  • 1 ounce Green Chartreuse
  • 1 ounce maraschino liqueur
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • lime wheel or twist, for garnish

Instructions

Combine ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Float lime slice on top or garnish with lime twist.

Notes

Fun fact: the color chartreuse was named because it resembles the color of the liqueur, not the other way around.
